Protein soft bars bananas and blueberries
It is known trade cereal bars are not the healthiest thing. We often find a lot of added sugar, food additives and processed fats that we want to reduce. We also want to vary the snacks after training when we move a lot (the snack is not necessary for everyone after training).
So here is an energizing bar recipe to consume after a workout to give you quality energy.
Simple to prepare in advance, it is easily consumed on the run in the mornings in a hurry after a race or a sustained workout. This is a delicious way to replenish your energy.
INGREDIENTS
500ml (2 cups) quick-cooking oatmeal (gluten free if needed)
250ml (1 cup) coarsely chopped almonds
250ml (1 cup) skimmed milk powder
125ml (1/2 cup) black or semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 ripe bananas crushed roughly
125ml (1/2 cup) almond butter
125ml (1/2 cup) egg whites (4 egg whites)
60ml (1/4 cup) maple syrup
250ml (1 cup) blueberries
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350 F
In a bowl, combine the oatmeal, almonds, milk powder and chocolate. Book.
In another bowl, combine bananas, almond butter, egg whites and maple syrup.
Stir in the wet ingredients mixed with the dry ingredients. Once well mixed, gently stir in the blueberries.
In a 20cm x 20cm (8 "x 8") paper parchment paper dish, pour and squeeze the mixture firmly.
Bake in the centre of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for at least 30 minutes. Cut into 12 bars.
